Ryan Adams Sucks
Well Hello there.
I made it back home after a splendid weekend of sun and fucking great tunes and the wonderful discovery that Ryan Adams is, in fact, the drunken, cocky, asinine perpetual child that he is famous for.
I was not particularity fond of his obvious dissatisfaction with the whole "Family Folk Fest" thing, but then again, I was not really surprised as I almost fell over in disbelief after reading he was a Sunday Evening Headliner way back in June....
Did the Festival organizers not read about his countless unpredictable outbursts ??????
But all said and Done, you gotta love him for staying true and being such a colossal asshole.
Ah well - Like I always say....Love the Songs, Not the Singer
With her twitchy, sweaty, disheveled white "Nancy Sinatra Boot" wearing look, Martha Wainright obviously had a rough night before her 1 pm show....
She was a wee bit of a crack victim, but like a good Rock n' roll trooper, she still managed to kick it out in her hardcore folkin' style....
I love her.
Big in the UK, but basically unheard of over here in Canada, The absolutely-fabulously charming Thea Gilmore forced me to become a fan.
I think I love her too.
So all in all, it was worth the $109 CDN Weekend pass...
a weekend which we happily folk'ed our way through - listening passionately to the angstful poetry set to acoustic guitars, taking in the seemingly impromptu Folk-music-induced "librarian convention" - eating granola bars and lukewarm sweaty cheese and wilted lettuce sandwiches from our backpack, all the while rolling around on Edmonton grasses in the teasing heat of the Alberta Summer till we dropped in a meaningful yet ironic lump.

Sounds like a great time!
Yo! Welcome back. Is that a paisley print shirt you're wearing there? I used to have pyjamas in that design - everyone did.
Good eye Sniff. I think you're right.
