Yes the pic is indeed L Word's own "Alice Piezecki" taken while she was a member of the 90's Rock band The Murmurs. She was also quite famous for being the young and rocking girlfriend of k.d. lang and also starring in the Teen Lesbian coming of age flick "All Over Me"

You see, the thing is that her L Word character, Alice, has such crap hair in the first series that it's all you really notice about her.
