*The Great Canadian Corrosion Experiment - Week 4 *

Well, this Experiment is going to be long and drawn out as to be quite honest - so far not a whole bunch has happened.

Great for the holidays, but detrimental to my experiment - it's been so freakin' hot here the last little while that the piss is evaporating shortly after it is dropped out, and the cola seems to have made a hardened gooey sugar protective coating, therefore not allowing in any more air or moisture in.......

CURSES!

Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, if I was to truly recreate an "underfloor aircraft corrosion experience" I would have to simulate a cool dark dank place where nothing evaporates, and only gets added too by more and more corrosive materials and warm heavy human breath and sweat droplets day after day.

But you must bear with me......

The only one that seems to had a bit of change was the scratched clad urine specimen.

This photo really doesn't show you very well, but there is a bit more discoloration and a bit of white powder beginning to form inside the aluminum scores.
As predicted the clad aluminum has not changed at all, and the aluminum with the screw thru has not shown any obvious signs of degradation either.... So far.

Good Eye april! ;)

Thats cool Rowan, metallurgy actually is interesting... there are so many things you can do and add to metals to change their strength.
I'm always curious at work as to why a certain piece of structure has failed at a certain area... especially if it is a common problem.

I've turned into a metal-nerd.....

Tell it's safe to fly to Italy Connie. I haven't been on a plane in 11 years and I'm getting very twitchy

It's safe T..... I know the crash in Greece doesn't help matters.... but you have to know you are more likely to get hit by a bus than crash in an airplane.

We are a very professional bunch, the airplane fixers.

Our footie season started again this weekend - it's like I've had one of my legs sewn back on; I feel strangely whole again.

I'm SO looking forward to flying over the Alps TWICE next month. I even have to take off and land in bloody Switzerland.

I'm going to die.
