1 in 2.5 Divorce Rate Just Like You......

Well well well, the vote is in... Canada has officially joined ranks with Belgium and the Netherlands....

It truly is a historic and positive step forward folks... I am an unabashedly proud Canadian today.

"“We are a nation of minorities. And in a nation of minorities, it is important that you don't cherry-pick rights.
.....A right is a right and that is what this vote tonight is all about."

- Paul Martin, Canadian Prime Minister -

Forgive my dense-ness, I don't understand the button's meaning...

Quite awesome news!

We going to be hearing wedding bells then?

It's totally insane to deny anyone the right to marry whomever they want. Well done Canada!!

Not sure where we are with this in the UK. I know that unmarried straight couples have just about as many rights a bird dropping...

At 2:31 AM, Blogger Sniffy said...

Well, and that's a big problem because fucking Labour want to introduce "married rights" for gay couples, but not for unmarried straight couples. How fucking insane is that?

But well done Canada. Why should I be denied the right to marry who I choose to? Apart from the fact that they don't want me of course.

Silly silly laws. Isn't it a shame that "governments" have to tell "the public" that it's ok for people to love each other and commit to life together? It makes my teeth tingle.

I know it's a positive step, I just can't help thinking it's a shame it has to happen at all. I'm kind of left feeling more sort of sad and annoyed than happy. I'll come round. I'll probably be thrilled once the drugs kick in... :)

Weird ain't it? It's like passing a law to say that it's OK for black people or Asians to marry. Stupid world.

But it's a good step forward.

At 6:55 AM, Blogger pissoff said...

I thought that was passed a while ago? Shows you how much I get to watch the news. I have to agree with the above... Things start to go to shit when you let the majority make the decisions for the minority.

At 7:25 AM, Blogger Sniffy said...

Well, I think we need to have decisions that favour most people most of the time or nothing would ever get done. But that doesn't mean that people have to be treated differently or unfairly. There always needs to be proper consultation and representation. Whether this actually happens is open to question.

Can I be your bridesmaid Connie?

It's funny but interracial marriage used to be illegal (at least in some states.) Now most people would think that was crazy.

Perhaps a few years from now most people will think it was crazy that gay marriage didn't used to be legal. I sure hope so!

Connie - if you get married... I want a videotape of the honeymoon night. ;)

At 11:36 AM, Blogger Sniffy said...

That's right Karen, you just say what everyone else is thinking!

At 2:12 PM, Blogger pissoff said...

On the subject of inter-racial marriages...when my parent got married back in the '60s the priest tried to talk my mom out of marrying my dad because he was "Indian."

What!?! you were all thinking it!

Oh, weren't you?

Sorry, it was that picture from before... got me feeling all funny...

what can I say, I may seem all weak kneed and liberal but I'm still a chap, and as a chap if I see good looking girls, y'know, being 'friendly' to eachother, I'm happy for them.

Right, I'll get my coat.

Just so you know there are no wedding plans for me just yet thankyouverymuch.

Jenn and I both are going to go thru the 3 year curse before the wedding plans are announced........

At 6:48 PM, Blogger Connie said...

oh aasmodeus.... "If you don't support Gay Marriage, don't have one"...you know, don't have a gay marriage if you don't support it.... ;)

At 6:50 PM, Blogger Connie said...

Oh herge darling, the honeymoon video is yours!
p.s. (I work with 130 men and just me, I KNOW FULL WELL HOW CHAPS THINK! ;)

At 3:42 AM, Blogger Spirit Of Owl said...

I want to place an order too, but can I have mine on DVD? Our video player's rubbish.

At 4:16 AM, Blogger Sniffy said...

Yeah, DVD.

Jeez, that's so perverted. I'm sorry. Well, I'm not, but I am sort of.

At 4:26 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

OK, thanks, Connie, I'm getting the button now :)

I don't want the honeymoon video. I'd like to subscribe to the BEST OF THE MONTH club. You are, after all, a couple of _fine_ ladies... I assume some of the best of series have you in those sunglasses? OHHHH YEAH!!!

Bowchickabownooooowwwwwww

Say, I've been meaning to ask, _whose_ are those in your June 13th post?

--jealous

At 10:07 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

--jealous ... I meant --envious, of course.

At 2:17 PM, Blogger Karen said...

Hey! I asked for the video first!

Oh, and just so everyone knows... There are no wedding plans in my future, either. Even though I'm getting up there in years.

At 3:11 PM, Blogger Sniffy said...

Me neither! Oh, I'm single anyway. Any offers anyone?

At 5:22 PM, Blogger Connie said...

Ok ! EVERYONE GETS THE DVD! hmmmm, better yet maybe i'll make it a live webcast where anyone can see connielingus live and unscripted.

Tina darling!, of course you get a copy, you need not ask... you are a member of the team! free copies to the members every time!!!

Sorry Lisa, I know i haven't much time this week to comment on anybodys blog, but i will send Jenn over if you like.
The "3 year curse" is because both Jenn and I seem to be "long termers" relationship wise. My last 2, and her last relationship lasted 3 years until they all went to shit. 3 years seems to be the breaking point for us. I just want to be sure.... hence, officially breaking the 3 year curse.

Good stuff. I just stumbled upon your blog here. Really like it.
BTW, I have the same bumper sticker on my car. I get the occasional bird because of it, but oh well. At least I assume the bird is because of the sticker, it can't be my driving.

At 12:18 AM, Blogger Connie said...

Welcome Homer Jay! Glad you are enjoying it here.......

Lisa, Jenn will be over to play tomorrow morning.... behave yourselves.

The UK will soon have civil ceremonies which will be taken by registrar, so it is quite possible Mrs. edwaado will soon be performing these.

At 3:48 AM, Blogger Sniffy said...

Mes Edwaado could marry me! Now, all I need to do is find some mug who'll have me.

At 9:05 AM, Blogger Connie said...

some mug who'll have you... lol! Oh Tina.....

At 4:16 AM, Blogger Sniffy said...

Yeah, I'm laughing too! It's great being the most sought after single person in blogworld who nobody wants to know in real life.

At 10:55 AM, Blogger Connie said...

You gotta be a go-getter in the woman on woman world - everyones waiting for the other to make the first move.... if I had only realized that a little earlier in life I would have been a legend by now! lol!
Seriously T, if there is someone YOU fancy go and ask them out or something, 9 times out of 10 they will at least try out at least a coffee date. You are a terrible flirt here, why not in real life????? Self-conciousness is such a turn-off Tina dahling... you need to oooze self-confidence (even if you are faking it) the girlies love an intelligent woman like yourself... I dare you to give it a go next time you are out in the village. I DARE YOU!
